Heating and air conditioning worker apprentices install, repair and maintain a wide variety of heating and cooling systems in facilities throughout the shipyard. The systems include water fountains, window air conditioners, heating units, air dryers, chilled water systems and air conditioning systems ranging in capacity from 3-60 tons.
313 Applied Theory III: Polyphase Systems and Controls 115 Hours 6 Credits
X316 Programmable Logic Controllers 66 Hours 2 Credits
043H Air Conditioning and Refrigeration I 90 Hours, 4 Credits
The WCSC supports the entire apprentice program by providing each apprentice with the technical knowledge required for the mastery of a trade, and an opportunity to obtain an associate degree in business administration, engineering technology, or engineering. The curriculum provides the educational foundation necessary for continued growth throughout a career.
The Apprentice School is accredited by the Commission of the Council on Occupational Education.
