Maintenance electrician apprentices install, maintain, modify and troubleshoot virtually every electrical and electronic component in the shipyard. Work sites vary from an underground transmission line to the top of a 23-story crane. Work assignments vary from installing a simple electrical outlet to repairing and maintaining complex numerically controlled equipment.

The WCSC supports the entire apprentice program by providing each apprentice with the technical knowledge required for the mastery of a trade, and an opportunity to obtain an associate degree in business administration, engineering technology, or engineering. The curriculum provides the educational foundation necessary for continued growth throughout a career.
