Special Event for High School Students

The next FORWARD (Future Opportunities Reaching the Workforce Apprentice Readiness and Development) Pre-Apprenticeship Experience event will be held on Saturday, February 18th, at 8:30 – 11:30.  The event will include hands on demonstrations for students in our virtual simulation lab, Q & A information session and a short tour of The Apprentice School for parents. Registration will open on Thursday, January 19, 2023. Please click on the link to our home page to sign up.   

Check- in time is 8:00 – 8:30.  All visitors must be issued an escort badge that  must be worn while in the building and must be escorted at all times by an NNS employee.

Required documents:

  • Original US birth certificate (no copies) or valid U.S. Passport (unexpired) AND
  • A valid driver’s license or any other unexpired identification card issued by federal, state, or local government.

If you are under the age of 18, the Model Release form and Liability Waiver for Minors form must be signed by a parent/guardian and submitted at check in.

Recruiting Event for Current Employees

The Apprentice School is hosting an end of year internal recruiting event for current employees of Newport News Shipbuilding.  The event will be held at The Apprentice School – Building 1919 on Tuesday, December 13, 2022.

There will be two information sessions held. The first session will be held from 8:00 am to 11:00 am and the second session will be from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm.

There will be staff onsite from The Apprentice School available to answer your questions, review your unofficial or official transcripts, and interview on the spot for those who qualify!

To be considered for an interview, attendees will need to ensure that they complete an internal application and submit official transcripts prior to this event. Internal applicants must be able to display and maintain good performance and attendance on the job.

Badges are required for this event. There will not be a charge provided for this event.

HII ESPN Ad Features Current Builder!

College basketball season is here and one of our own, X42 apprentice Fatima Medina-Galeno, will be featured in an ad for HII during the Gonzaga and Michigan State game onboard the NNS-built USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) on Veteran’s Day, November 11. Read more about the story and watch the ad here.
